Fixed permanent teeth are a much-touted solution to tooth loss. These durable and permanent replacements for missing teeth can last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. Fixed permanent teeth also have a high success rate, and few patients complain of complications post-surgery.

That said, not everyone qualifies for fixed permanent teeth. First of all, you need high bone density in the jaw to anchor the titanium implants securely. Patients with low bone density like older adults need bone grafts if they wish to have conventional dental implants placed. Unlike removable dentures and fixed bridges, standard dental implant placement is relatively invasive. That means you have to be healthy and strong enough for multiple surgeries.

If you do qualify for dental implants, you’ll have to decide beforehand if this is the best solution to your dental problem. One of the biggest considerations is cost, the main drawback of dental implants.
The procedure is typically not covered by dental insurance, but medical insurance may be able to cover a percentage depending on the situation. You’ll also have to consider the opportunity cost of having to go to the dentist for several procedures and the lengthy recovery periods in between, which may force you to take unpaid time off of work.

Other Options

You can explore alternative options like Removable or Snap-On Teeth, Teeth in a Day,  or removable dentures.

Whether fixed Permanent teeth with dental implants are worth it or not depends on your lifestyle, overall health, needs and preferences. It also depends on how much you’re willing to invest in your teeth.
